Chickenpox confirmed

Medical Notification

At the Madison-Plains Local School District, it is our goal to keep your children safe and healthy.  As such, we want to make you aware that we have a confirmed case of chickenpox in one of our elementary classrooms.

Chickenpox is a highly contagious disease caused by a virus. The usual symptoms are: an itchy skin rash that looks like little blisters filled with fluid, decrease in energy, poor appetite and mild fever.  Chickenpox can be spread through the air when a child is in close contact with someone who has chickenpox.  Touching the rash or objects that the infected child has handled also spreads chickenpox.  Chickenpox usually occurs 10 to 21 days after exposure.  About 24 to 48 hours before the rash appears the child will have a slight fever, loss of appetite, and less energy.  After the rash appears, the child will continue to have a slight fever and may be irritable and fussy because of the itching.  If you suspect your child has chickenpox, please take them to their physician or urgent care to be properly diagnosed and notify the school of any diagnosis of chickenpox.

Vaccination Requirement

Vaccination Requirement

Hello, Madison-Plains Local School District Parents!  This is a friendly reminder that if you have a child that started Kindergarten, 7th, or 12th grade this year, they are required by the State of Ohio to have up-to-date vaccinations on file with the school.  If you have not done this yet, please do so by September 15th, or your child will be excluded from school and athletics.  Please contact your physician's office, or you may contact Madison County Public Health at 740-852-3065, to get your child's required immunizations.  Please contact Ashley Palmer, School Nurse, with any questions at 740-490-0747.  Thank you!
