Ms. Ann Boerger named as JH/HS Principal
The Madison-Plains Local School District has hired current assistant principal, Ms. Ann Boerger, as its next leader for the district’s junior and senior high school.  The hiring was officially approved by the board of education at a special meeting on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the District Meeting Room.  Boerger, who has been with the district for two years, rose to the top of a field of 14 applicants through the screening and interview process that involved students, parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, and board members.  She is being given a multi-year contract, consistent with what other administrators have been given recently in the district.

Boerger’s resume demonstrates that she is a veteran educator who brings some wonderful experience with her to the principalship.  In addition to her two years of experience as an assistant principal in the district, Boerger previously worked for two years as an instructional coach at Springfield High School where her work was to collaborate with teachers and administrators to improve student learning through improving instructional approaches, and prior to that, she worked for 11 years as a math teacher at Tolles Career and Technical Center and for two years at Vandalia-Butler City Schools in the same capacity.  Also of note is Boerger’s experience working with Ohio Network Regional Leaders in mathematics, where she collaborated with other regional leaders throughout the state in implementing Ohio’s New Learning Standards and Ohio’s State Tests.  Boerger has also worked as an adjunct professor at Columbus State Community College where she taught math courses to adult students.  She has her bachelor of science degree from Ohio Northern University and a master of science degree from the University of Dayton.

District superintendent Chad Eisler said, “Ann’s wealth of experience has really prepared her for the work we are doing by giving her a breadth and depth of perspective that not all administrators have, especially early in their careers, and by virtue of the fact that she has been in our district the past two years, we believe she and the junior/senior high school will be able to transition nearly seamlessly with her at the helm of the building.” When asked what made Boerger stand out from other candidates, Eisler stated, “In addition to her knowledge, the two interview committees saw her passion for our students, our staff, our communities, and the education our students receive. Additionally, Ann is rooted here, has family here, and the connections she has made with our students and staff are strong. We believe that as she transitions into this new role that those connections will only strengthen, and that is important because as we continue with our journey towards excellence, relationships and trust become very important.”

When asked why she was excited to make the transition to the principalship at Madison-Plains, Boerger stated, “I am excited to continue to learn and grow with the Madison-Plains students and staff.  I want to create an environment where staff continue to grow professionally and students learn the skills to accomplish their individual goals.  I am proud to be a Golden Eagle and look forward to strengthening our community relationships.”

Boerger will officially begin her work as building principal on August 1, 2019.
