No change to transportation plan, school hours for 2017-18
The Board of Education tonight voted not to implement the two-tiered bus routing plan it initially approved. As a result, start and stop times for all of the buildings in the district will remain unchanged. K-12 students will be bussed together -- as they have in the past. The school day for all grades will be 7:45 a.m. to 2:50 p.m.
Changes to the amount of reimbursement costs the district would have recieved from the state -- as approved by the biennial budget on June 30 and effective July 1 -- is cause for the halt to the routing plan. The state's new two-year budget sharply reduced transportation funding for school districts. It would have cost the district more to operate the new plan compared to the current program.
Bus routes will be announced in early August. Parents will be notified electronically, just as they were for the 2016-17 school year.
