Welcome Mike English!
The Madison-Plains Local School District Board of Education has appointed Michael English to fill the vacated seat on the Board of Education.  The Board held a special meeting on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, to make the appointment.

The vacancy, which was announced at the regular June meeting, had been posted on the school district’s website.  Community members who were interested and met the minimum requirements were asked to complete and submit an application, letter of interest, and resume to the Board on or before Wednesday, June 26, 2019.  The Board met in executive session on the evening of Thursday, June 27, to review application materials and make decisions regarding which candidates would be interviewed during a special Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, July 9.

Finalists were interviewed on that evening and from the finalists selected, the Board chose to appoint Michael English to the position.  English currently serves as an administrator at Madison Health where he is the director of acute care nursing and clinical education.  He and his wife have four children, two of whom are school-aged and attend Madison-Plains Local Schools.

English has served within the school district already through his work with the Scholastic Booster Club, and he has also volunteered with Sufficient Grace, a county-wide program that helps to fight child hunger by delivering food to students in need at the schools once a week.

With regard to the appointment of English, Board vice-president Toula Xenikis stated, “This was a difficult decision to make, as we had very good applicants, and the interviews were very good.  We are thankful for the passion and dedication that the candidates have for Madison-Plains Local Schools.  In the end, we believe that Michael English was the best candidate for the position.  Through the interviews Michael demonstrated great passion and knowledge and a community mindset that will benefit the District.  He and his family are involved in the schools today.  We are pleased to welcome him aboard, as we are a confident that he will be a great addition to the Board.”

English will be sworn in at the next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, July 23, at 7:00 p.m. in the District Meeting Room.
