During the summer months, Madison-Plains has been working to design options that will keep our students and staff members as safe as possible while also providing a quality educational experience for all of our students. These plans have been developed to the following guiding principles:
  • Address health and safety concerns associated with COVID-19
  • Provide equity and access to learning for all students
  • Work to comply with MCPH Guidelines
  • Align with the Ohio Department of Health Risk Levels
  • Be mindful of district finances and resources

It is our intent to begin the school year with all students in attendance, five (5) days a week.

Two Learning Options for Families

As we continue to finalize plans for the restart of school, we are pleased to offer two educational options to our families: Traditional In-Person Learning and Full Distance-Learning.

All families are asked to complete a notification form for which option your student(s) will use during the first semester. Families are required to commit for the entire first semester to either educational option. Families can change or renew this commitment for the second semester during the month of December. The registration period WILL CLOSE AUGUST 4TH. This registration period is imperative so that we may appropriately allocate staff and resources.

Transportation for 2020-2021

  • Students must be picked up and dropped off from the same location this year to reduce potential exposure of the virus to multiple bus routes.
  • Students using school transportation are required to wear cloth face coverings.
  • Students may sit no more than two students per seat.
  • Every effort will be made to mix outside air into the bus.
  • Families will be asked to commit to their transportation choice for the first semester so we may adequately prepare for transportation needs.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE EDUCATIONAL OPTION AND TRANSPORTATION FORM TO NOTIFY THE DISTRICT OF YOUR NEED FOR TRANSPORTATION. PLEASE COMPLETE ONE FORM FOR EACH STUDENT IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD. At the end of the form you will be prompted to complete a new form if you have more than one student.

Contingency Plans for Traditional Learning

As health conditions in Madison County continue to change, it may be necessary to use contingency plans to traditional in-person learning. These contingency plans currently align with the ODH Health Risk Levels. However, the levels may change if the district is directed to do so by MCPH, ODE, or if staff COVID-19 absenteeism outpaces available substitutes, or other health-related issues occur.  All plans are subject to change based on evolving conditions, data about the status of the pandemic, and recommendations and guidance from MCPH.

Student participation in both contingency plans is required. Families are highly encouraged to secure reliable internet access and computers for students to engage in learning from home while contingency plans are in place. The district has a limited number of Chromebooks that can be lent out.

*All plans are subject to change based on evolving conditions, data about the status of the pandemic, and recommendations and guidance from MCPH.
