Full Remote Learning Model

Full Remote Model begins November 30, 2020

remote
Madison-Plains will begin a full remote learning model beginning on Monday, November 30, 2020, as directed by Madison County Public Health (MCPH). At this time, this plan is in effect through the end of December. This plan could change based on the impact of COVID-19 on our county.

Online learning

Students will engage in online learning on remote learning days. The district is distributing devices and hotspots to those families who have expressed a need. In order to eliminate confusion and simplify expectations for students and families, Madison-Plains will be using MPVS as the primary electronic platform for most courses and supplementing with i-Ready in reading and math.  Google Classroom is only being used in select 7-12 courses including JH/HS music, HS art, CCP, AP, agricultural science, family and consumer science, world geography, mythology, short stories, and French III. Students will be able to access all of the approved platforms listed using their mplsd email account and password.

Attendance on remote learning days

Students will be given tasks to complete for remote learning days. Attendance is based on assignment completion. Students will be marked present for remote learning days if they have made a good-faith effort to complete the tasks given to them. In grades K-6, students will be assigned four tasks for each remote learning day from the core subject areas. Students will be assigned one task per week from their specials courses (i.e., Art, Music, PE).

In grades 7-12, students will be assigned exactly one task/activity per course per day. This means that all students will be given five tasks per week for each course they are taking. In all situations, teachers will provide clear expectations for students and look for evidence of participation or a lack of participation when making decisions about attendance. Teachers will post the expectations for the upcoming week according to the schedule below so that all students and families have sufficient time to plan for remote learning.
