Hybrid Plan

Update: Grades K-6 return to full-time in-person learning on February 16, 2021.

HYBRID
Madison-Plains students in grades K-6 who chose Option 1 will return to full-time in-person learning beginning Tuesday, February 16, 2021. Option 1 students in grades 7-12 will continue using the hybrid learning model due to spacing issues and based on a directive by Madison County Public Health (MCPH) that schools must maintain a minimum of three feet of social distancing for students and staff. We continue to work on solutions to bring our junior high and high school students back full-time as soon as possible.

Please be aware that this plan could change based on further directives from MCPH and the impact of COVID-19 on our county. Staff, students, and parents should remain prepared for the possibility of moving back to a fully-remote educational model if trends significantly change.

Updated Calendars for Option 1 Students

Students in grades 7-12 will remain divided into two cohorts as shown on the chart below. The calendars below show the current schedules for both K-6 students and students in grades 7-12.

Attendance on remote learning days

Students will be given tasks to complete for remote learning days. Attendance is based on assignment completion. Students will be marked present for remote learning days if they have made a good-faith effort to complete the tasks given to them. In grades K-6, students will be assigned four tasks for each remote learning day from the core subject areas. Students will not be assigned tasks from their specials (i.e., Art, Music, PE). In grades 7-12, students will be assigned exactly one task/activity per course per day. This means that all students will be given three tasks per week for each course they are taking. In all situations, teachers will provide clear expectations for students and look for evidence of participation or a lack of participation when making decisions about attendance. Teachers will post the expectations for the upcoming week according to the schedule below so that all students and families have sufficient time to plan for remote learning.

Online learning on remote learning days

Students will engage in online learning on remote learning days. The district is distributing devices and hotspots to those families who have expressed a need. In order to eliminate confusion and simplify expectations for students and families, Madison-Plains will be using MPVS as the primary electronic platform for most courses and supplementing with i-Ready in reading and math.  Google Classroom is only being used in select 7-12 courses including JH/HS music, HS art, CCP, AP, agricultural science, family and consumer science, world geography, mythology, short stories, and French III. Students will be able to access all of the approved platforms listed above using their mplsd email account and password.
