Commencement AnnouncementDear MPHS Senior Families,Good afternoon! As noted in previous communication, a decision on the location of commencement was to be made by noon today, Thursday, May 27, 2021. I have been watching the forecast all week long and regularly checking for updates. As of this morning, the forecast for tomorrow, Friday, May 28, 2021, calls for significant chances of thunderstorms and rain through the afternoon and evening hours up through the start time of commencement, which is at 7:00 p.m. As such, we will need to have commencement indoors in the gym at MPHS. As a reminder, with commencement being indoors, graduates will be allowed to have four guests attend the ceremony in person. We have planned to also provide a live stream of the ceremony so that other family members can watch at home.Thank you for your understanding and support.Go Eagles!Chad Eisler, SuperintendentMadison-Plains Local School District

Honor, tradition and service are hallmarks of the United States military, and Ohioans have made countless storied contributions to our nation’s history. Ohio continues this legacy as its education community recognizes high school students joining the military with the Annual All-Ohio United States Armed Forces Career Commitment Celebration. The celebration will take place virtually on social media, culminating in a highlight video recognizing our young men and women’s commitment to our country. Students in grades 11-12 who have committed to military service, including active duty, Reserve or National Guard, are invited to take part by signing the celebratory letter of intent. #OhioMilitarySigningDaySenior, Josh Champer has committed to the United States Army Active DutySenior, Skylar Cottrell has committed to the United States Army Reserve. Please click Read More below for more details!

On Friday May 7th, a group of 22 Madison-Plains seniors headed to Mount Sterling to participate in their annual Senior Service Project to give back to the community that has given so much to them.Once the seniors arrived, they got right to work assisting village leaders with community service tasks. Students spent several hours working in the village and at the Mt. Sterling Community Center picking up litter, pulling weeds from flower beds, trimming bushes, planting flowers, and spreading mulch.Madison-Plains class of 2021 would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mrs. Courtney Bricker for her assistance with setting up the project and the Mt. Sterling Community Center for donating lunch for the seniors. Without their contributions and assistance, this project would not have been possible.

Twenty-five new members were inducted into the Madison-Plains High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. These new members joined twelve active NHS members. The National Honor Society recognizes students who have set themselves apart from their peers by demonstrating involvement in their community, exemplary service to others, leadership qualities, and a commitment to scholarship.Students who meet the minimum grade requirement are given an application and asked to apply for membership. This process gives the opportunity to showcase how each student lives up to the standards of NHS. Perspective members submit applications, letters of recommendation and references from faculty members to the Faculty Council for review. The Council reviews each individual student and offers membership only to those who clearly demonstrated excellence in all four categories. Those students who are selected have put in a lot of work and are joining this organization to work with other students to continue helping their school and community.
