K6 Assistant Principal
In their regular Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, the Madison-Plains Local School District (MPLSD) Board of Education approved the hiring of Meredith Ford to be the District’s next Elementary/Intermediate School assistant principal.

An educator with more than 19 years of educational experience, Ford joins the MPLSD team from the Triad Local School District, where she currently serves the staff and approximately 350 students as the kindergarten through fourth-grade literacy coach at Triad Elementary School.  While in this position, Ford has demonstrated leadership capacity by developing the Literacy Leadership Team, which has developed a three-year plan to increase literacy achievement for the students, using data to monitor student progress and adjusting instruction as needed.

In addition to her experience as a literacy coach, which she has been doing since 2016, Ford also served as a Title I reading teacher and data management coordinator, also at Triad Elementary School, from 2005 – 2016.  She has also served as a sixth- and second-grade teacher.  Additionally, Ford has taught at Urbana University, now Franklin University, as an adjunct professor, teaching courses in phonics and the diagnosis and remediation of reading difficulties.

Ford earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Wilmington College and a reading endorsement from The Ohio State University, where she also completed her master’s degree.  Her coursework for her principal’s license was completed at the University of Dayton, as Ford is licensed by the state of Ohio to serve as a principal in all grades, kindergarten through grade 12.

With regard to joining the team at MPLSD, Ford stated, “First, I want to thank the Madison-Plains Board of Education, administration, and staff for allowing me the opportunity to serve your community as the assistant principal for the Elementary/Intermediate School.  I cannot wait to meet all of the staff, students, and community members.  I am truly looking forward to making this year one full of building relationships while focusing on student success.”

Madison-Plains Elementary/Intermediate School principal Brad Miller stated, “We are very excited to be able to welcome Meredith to our staff.  She will bring a calming effect to our building, and she is very knowledgeable about curriculum, especially in the area of literacy.  We look forward to the positive energy and people skills she will bring.”

Ford replaces outgoing MP Elementary/Intermediate assistant principal Jake LeGros, who resigned to take a position as a building principal in another district.
