Graduation, Prom, and Levy
Dear MPLSD Parents, Guardians, and Staff Members,

Greetings!  I hope this finds you well!

The purpose of this communication is to share some information with you about some upcoming events.

First, school districts across the state received guidance this week from the Governor’s office and the Ohio Department of Health regarding graduations and proms.  In light of that, we are continuing to move forward with our plans for these events.

MPHS will have commencement exercises on Friday evening, May 28, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.  We are planning to host graduation in the stadium, weather permitting, in order that our graduates can have more family members in attendance.  In the event of inclement weather, graduation will be moved indoors to the high school gymnasium.  Because safety protocols will still be in place, graduates will be able to have ten (10) family members if the ceremony is outdoors, and four (4) family members in attendance if it is indoors.  A decision on the specific location, based upon the weather, will be made on Thursday, May 27, 2021, by noon.  More information will be shared in the near future.

Prom is Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Wren Farms in Mechanicsburg.  The high school will be communicating ticket purchasing procedures in the near future, as well.

Finally, as you may have heard, MPLSD has placed a renewal of the current earned income tax on the May 04 ballot.  This is a renewal of the current 1.25% earned income tax, which expires in 2023.  MPLSD is seeking a ten-year term for the renewal levy.  There will be four community informational meetings in the coming weeks in locations around the school district.  The first meeting will be Thursday, April 15, at the Newport Firehouse.  The second one will be on Monday, April 19, at the Community Center in Mt. Sterling.  There will be another meeting on Thursday, April 22, at the Fairfield Township Hall, and we are planning on having a virtual meeting on Thursday, April 29, 2021.  All of these meetings are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Thank you!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Go Eagles!
