Quarantine Change - Sept. 24, 2021
Dear Madison-Plains Local School District Parents, Guardians, Staff, and Students.

Good evening!  The purpose of this communication is to share an update regarding quarantine procedures.

I participated in a meeting Thursday morning with the county health department.  In that meeting, a change regarding how quarantines related to COVID-19 are determined for students and staff within the county was announced.

Beginning on Monday, September 27, 2021, students and staff members who made physical contact with a person who is a confirmed case of COVID-19 during the case’s infectious period will be required to quarantine at home.  Again, and to be clear, for exposures that occur at school, students and staff members who come into physical contact with, in other words physically touched, a person who is in their infectious period of COVID-19 will be required to quarantine at home.  This is regardless of masking.

Students and staff who were within six feet of the case, but did not have physical contact, and remain symptom-free, will be recommended to quarantine, but only those who came into direct, physical contact with the case will be required to quarantine.  The health department states if staff or students begin to display symptoms, they are to isolate at home for 10 days, and it is encouraged they are evaluated by a doctor.

Staff and students who test positive for or are diagnosed with COVID-19 will still need to isolate at home, as they have been; that has not changed.

Again, this change in determining which staff and students have to quarantine will go into effect on Monday, September 27, 2021.

Thank you.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend!

Go Eagles!

Chad Eisler, Superintendent
