April 27, 2022
We held the Madison County Math Bee during the evening of April 27, 2022 at Tolles. Below is the list of winners along with a few other details from last night. I am also attaching the program and some pictures. Let me know if you would like any further information.
There were a total of 68 competitors in grades 5-8 from all four school districts: Jonathan Alder, London, Madison-Plains, and West Jefferson.
Students competed by grade level on a written test of 20 questions with one tie-breaker question for first place. Awards were given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Students who won 1st-place also receive a $25 award. (Info about the award is in the program)
5th-grade
1st-place: Peyton Parker from Madison-Plains Intermediate School
Peyton won by the use of the tie-breaker question.
2nd-place: Daniel Farmwald from Canaan Middle School (Jonathan Alder)
3rd-place: Ryan Nicol from Canaan Middle School (Jonathan Alder)
6th-grade
1st-place: Eva Dwyer from London Middle School
2nd-place (tie): Isabella Pantone from West Jefferson Middle School and Emmalyn Moyer from Canaan Middle School (Jonathan Alder)
3rd-place (tie): Josh Freeze and Anna Stroup, both from Madison-Plains Intermediate School
7th-grade
1st-place: Dani Berger from Jonathan Alder Junior High
Dani also won by the tie-breaker question.
2nd-place: Ethan Roberts from West Jefferson Middle School
3rd-place (four-way tie): Zavier Mayabb from Madison-Plains Junior High, Lillian Friend from London Middle School, Ella Hostetler from West Jefferson Middle School, and Troy Nicol from Jonathan Alder Junior High
8th-grade
1st-place: Garek Logue from London Middle School
Garek also won by tie-breaker.
2nd-place: Chloe Wilson from Jonathan Alder Junior High
3rd-place: Ashlyn Gall from Jonathan Alder Junior High
