Denny Morris Baseball Facility

In front of many former players, family, and friends on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, an official naming ceremony was held to name the Madison-Plains baseball facility in honor of the late Denny Morris.  Denny Morris grew up in Mount Sterling, Ohio, and was a 1965 graduate of The Plains High School.  Denny very much enjoyed the game of baseball, and was always involved with it, whether he was playing, coaching, or simply as a fan.  He started his coaching career in high school as a youth league coach and continued that into college, where he also served as the Westfall assistant coach for one year.  He also served as a coach at his alma mater, The Plains High School for several seasons, and he was a graduate assistant for Miami University while obtaining his masters degree.  Denny became the head baseball coach for Madison-Plains in 1974, a role in which he kept for the next 20 years until his retirement in 1994.  Denny also served the district in other capacities in his time as a head coach, serving as a teacher, athletic director, and administrator.  Over the course of his coaching career at Madison-Plains, Denny and his teams accumulated eight Central District titles, as well as eight South Central Ohio League championships.  Denny left a tremendous legacy and impact here at Madison-Plains, especially in baseball, and it is evident as many of Coach Morris’s former players, as well as the baseball coaching staff, initiated the process of naming the field after him, and it was unanimously approved by the Madison-Plains Local School District Board of Education.
