Memo from the Superintendent
Memo from Superintendent Chad Eisler:

I would like to invite you to come out and share your thoughts about the school district with me.  In order to do this, I am hosting several “Listening Sessions,” and my goal is to hold one of these in each of the townships the school district serves.  The goal of the sessions is simply for you to share with me your impressions and thoughts about the district so that I can learn what our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and problems are from your perspective.  I am excited to hear from you and learn your thoughts!

State of Ohio Releases Local Report Cards

September 13, 2018

Dear Madison-Plains Community,

As you may be aware, the state of Ohio Local Report Cards came out today from the Ohio Department of Education.  Similar to a report card that a student receives, this report card provides us with important information about how we are doing as a school district.  There are grades and items on the report card that we are pleased with and demonstrate that we are making improvements. One area that we are pleased with is “Gap Closing.”  On that item, we went from a grade of “F” last year to a grade of “B” this year. “Gap Closing” measures how well we close the learning gaps among groups of students in English, math, and graduation rate.  We also continue to perform well in helping struggling readers to make significant gains in their reading abilities.

There are areas, however, where we recognize we have opportunities for growth and improvement.  We continue to struggle, as do many districts, in the area of “Prepared for Success.” This component measures how well prepared students are for future opportunities.  It uses factors such as ACT/SAT scores, the number of students earning an Honors Diploma, and how many students earn an industry-recognized credential.

Please know that it is our desire to demonstrate excellence in all areas of our work -- those areas reflected on the report card and also in those areas of our work not measured on the report card.  We embrace the challenge of continuing our work and striving to improve our performance and pursue excellence.

We invite you to look at both the Local Report Card and our Madison-Plains Quality Profile Report.  If you look at the items to the left of this post, there is an item called the "Quality Profile Report." I encourage you to read through that, as it provides a larger view of the work we do with students. The Quality Profile Report also includes links to our Local Report Card so that you can see that information, as well.

On behalf of the Board of Education, administration, faculty, and staff, please know that we will continue our efforts so that our upward trend continues and Madison-Plains becomes a model for rural education.

It is a pleasure to serve the students and the community of Madison-Plains!

Sincerely,

Mr. Chad Eisler, Superintendent
