Community Service Hours are a Graduation Requirement for Madison-Plains High School.

Why? - Community Service is a Graduation Requirement. If you attended all 4-years of high school at Madison-Plains, you are required to complete, at least, 20 Community Service Hours in order to receive your High School Diploma.
I Enrolled in Madison-Plains AFTER My Freshman Year? Students that enter Madison-Plains after their freshman year will be prorated with the hourly requirements. Example: A student enrolls at MP their junior year. They will be required to complete 10 hours of community service before they graduate. (5 hours for junior year and 5 hours for senior year).
Community Service Seal - If you plan on qualifying for the Community Service Seal, you must complete an ADDITIONAL 30 hours of Community Service to receive this Seal. That means you must complete at least, 50 Community Service Hours before you graduate from Madison-Plains: 20 for the graduation requirement and 30 for community service seal = 50 total hours.
What? - Community Service is when you do something for someone else, NOT family, without the intentions of getting a reward or money.
What Can I do to Earn Community Service Hours? Here are some suggested community service opportunities. *Always make sure you are familiar with the person or place you do community service for so you are safe.
Animal Shelters, Assisted living homes, Athletic Games, Booster Clubs, Boys & Girls Clubs, Cemeteries, Child Care centers, Churches, City & State Parks, Civic Clubs, Community Centers, FFA Community Services, Food Pantry, Fire Department, 4-H Community Service, Homeless Shelters, Kiwanis Club, Libraries, Museums, NHS Community Services, Neighborhood Services, Scouts, Senior Centers, Student Council Services, Tutoring, Veteran's Affairs, Youth Sports Leagues.
Examples of duties performed for community service: Trash clean up, gardening, mowing, assisting elderly or children, organizing materials, serving people.

To find the Guidance Webpage & Community Service Form - From Your Computer: Go to MPLSD.ORG, Scroll over “SCHOOLS” located on the green bar at the top, Click on “Madison-Plains High School (This is the high school webpage). Click on “Guidance Office” located on the left side of the page (This is the guidance webpage). Scroll down and on the right hand side you will find *Log Your Community Service Hours Here*.
To find the Guidance Webpage & Community Service Form - From Your Cell Phone: Go to MPLSD.ORG, Click on MENU at the top, Click on “Schools”, Select “Madison-Plains High School” (This is the high school webpage). Scroll down and Click on the Madison-Plains High School Menu bar. Click on Guidance Office (This is the guidance webpage). Keep scrolling down until you see “Community Service Hours” in bold, under this you will find *Log Your Community Service Hours Here*.
How? - Each Student is REQUIRED to log in their own community service hours.
Information you need to log in your community service hours:1. Student Name. 2. Student email address. 3. Year you will graduate. 4. Description of the community service you provided (you must explain what you did to earn community service). 5. Name of person/company you did community service for. 6. Phone number for the person you did community service for. 7. Number of hours it took to complete. 8. Date you provided the community service.
When? - We recommend each student completes at least 5 hours of community service each year.
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!
ALL community service MUST be completed before May 1st of your graduating year.
*Community Service cannot be performed during school hours. (Perfect time to complete: after school, weekends, and summer break).
